Meet Holly! A Healthcare Hygienist with Heart
Mar 28, 2023Holly Dixon is a Federal Dental Department Registered Dental Hygienist from Corning, New York and a new member of National Network of Healthcare Hygienists (NNHH).
Holly has always had a strong passion to help the geriatric population. Now that she is working in the VA and caring for all ages, she wanted to be able to help every single one of them by incorporating an oral prevention plan.
Holly dreams of becoming an Oral Systemic Health Educator in the VA for all veterans AND medical personnel. She said,
“We are a great population of professionals that absolutely love what we do. We want to help as much as we can in our expertise to keep people healthy! We are bursting at the seams with information just waiting to share it with our patients and fellow healthcare providers. We are a great source that can notice potential pathology or systemic problems in the oral cavity and surrounding areas.”
She works in a VAMC that has a Community living Center (Nursing Home), and many specialty clinics on campus. She feels well prepared to care for diabetics, cardiac patients, and her geriatric veterans.
Holly also said “NNHH is definitely a great collaboration of professionals that can help us integrate into the medical field as an important component of overall individual healthcare. And if you are an RDH who needs the most up-to-date science-based information for the patients that you see in private practice; this organization and Oral Systemic Educator Certificate Program is for you too!”
